Trashing Luxury Kitchens Benefits the World: the Wonders of Wealth

As a Freecycle Moderator for 4+ years, I thought I'd seen everything .... Until I ran across this amazing website. Green Demolition's mission is to save luxury kitchens from landfill, and resell them to creative a revenue stream for an Addiction Recovery program. If you, like me, wonder why luxury kitchens get trashed, the answer is: the rich are different than we are. When price is no object, kitchens get redone, kind of like the rest of us buy new kitchen towels to spruce things up a little.
When we lived in Manhattan in the go-go 80's, we sold our nice but not fancy coop apartment to two Mutual Fund Managers. They proceeded to tear out our 3-year-old renovated kitchen and indeed trashed the cabinets, counters, and appliances. We heard about it from our old neighbors who were offended by the wastefulness of it, and that was 20 years ago before the excesses of later decades. So Green Demolitions is solving an actual problem - what to do with the sub-optimal but ten times nicer than most people's kitchen? Problem solved, and tax donation procured. Wasteful excess for a good cause!
You can browse on their website for some pretty cool bargains. They're not free, but it's a great way to reuse, and the prices look great for the quality.
